J-N Fence highly recommends Western Red Cedar as the material to construct a privacy fence in North Texas. North Texas is know for harsh HOT Summers and some fencing materials do not hold up as well as Western Red Cedar. Western Red cedar is one of North America’s great renewable resources. Slow growing and naturally durable, Western Red Cedar has one of the longest life spans of any North American softwood. And Western Red Cedar is preferred wood for nearly all purposes where attractive appearance or resistance to weather is important.

J-N Fence recommends the Spruce material to be used as an alternative to Western Red Cedar in our area, keep in mind that this material does not have the same properties as Western Red Cedar and does not last as long. If price is an issue this is the best product for the price. Remember Spruce will not look as good as Western Red Cedar and does not have the longevity as Western Red Cedar. Most new home fences are built with Spruce wood because it is less expensive. If left untreated, Spruce will last 5-7 years, but will begin needing repairs after 4 years.

J-N Fence fabricates all of their custom gates in house and provides services to other fencing companies in the area. Recently we have installed and maintain a plasma cutting machine that allows us to take specially items such as trophies, lettering in steel, and other projects that may require the intricate fabrication with steel.
